Simple Truths of Life, Drawing and Business

Posted by & filed under Blog.

Thursday nights I go to Life Drawing in a quaint little town hall in Grantham’s Landing. (Yes, folks, I do live in the boonies, and love it!). It’s a welcome change from focusing on all the little details that go into making websites. At the same time, my brain likes to noodle things other than what I’m doing at the present moment (yours too?), so while I’m drawing I sometimes end up thinking about my business. Last night I was inspired to share these Simple Truths of Life, Drawing and Business.

Sometimes you luck out and find the flow. Enjoy it and milk it for all it’s worth.

Quick and dirty can be more successful than you might think.

If you focus too much on one thing you can lose the bigger picture.

Take risks. Sometimes the results are a lot more fun. Yes, sometimes they suck too, but you never know until you try.

Notice how I walked the talk, and gave you imperfect photos? (Pats self on back). I hope you enjoyed this nonetheless :P

Speaking of trying new things…

You might have heard about the new semi-custom WordPress websites thing I’ve been working on with Sparky Firepants. We’re just about ready to launch, and super stoked about it! SO, here’s your chance to  get a sneak peak and a chance to be first in line with a nice discount. Hop onto our advance notice list and you’ll be hearing from us real soon.

    Hi Tzaddi,

What a beautiful selection of drawings. I love the more formal ones, but the blue lady has something special going on there.

Carole: I’m so glad and looking forward to seeing your risk-taking in action!

Thanks Dave and Megan, I enjoyed her too. Nice to have a loose one that feels good when I’m usually so stiff.

I’m already thinking of more truths I could have included…something about editing and showing only your best stuff. You should see all the drawings that didn’t make the cut :P

These are fantastic, Tzaddi. So true how the brain can figure stuff out itself, by focusing on something else. I, too, am enamoured by the blue lady. She’s very lovely.

    Good schtuff here Tzaddi!

The drawings are gorgeous. And the lessons feel totally right on to me.

The quick and dirty thing is something I need to be reminded of often. It’s a good tranquilizer dart for my inner perfectionist.

And count me as another fan of the faboo blue lady.

My fave is the blue lady. The line is so relaxed and flows so well. I’m a sucker for drawings that capture the feeling and emotion of a subject. Bam!

Thursdays are probably awesome for your soul.

Thanks, all! Seems like the blue lady is a crowd-pleaser. (note to self: loosen up more!)

Jen: I LOVE the sketches you’re posting on your blog. Everyone: go check out her 100 heads http://jenhiebert.com/2009/08/100-heads-blog-post/

Fabeku: you and me both. I need that tranquilizer dart often. Even though my brain knows that imperfect art is often more beautiful, you know? That’s why I used to love ceramics. The unexpected results tend to force you out of that controlling-perfectionist rut.

Mr. Pants: Thursdays are so, so good for my soul. Even when I don’t feel like going I am glad I have.

Tzaddi, Awesome sketches. Inspiring me to dig out my sketch book and pencils. I love the fluidity of the blue lady and was equally struck by the enigmatic like emotion of the first lady.

Do this again, please. Want to see more when you are ready to share.
