Dara Wyton, creator of fantastic interior design, needed new web design to show off her work. Her old site was dated and difficult to maintain. She had started a blog, but the fact it was on Blogspot while the rest of her site was old-school HTML made for a disjointed visitor experience.

Working with Dara was great fun. She was very open to my creative suggestions and as a designer herself she intuitively understood my approach to form and function. I believe the best thing I can do for another designer or artist is to make an elegant, well organized showcase that lets their work shine without getting in the way. My design should never compete with their work.

I started with cues from her logo and the aesthetics I observed in her portfolio. I created some hand drawn “scribbles”, and asked surface designer Libby Unwin if we could license one of her luscious patterns to give the background of the site a wallpaper feel.

The result is an online home that feels perfectly designed just for Dara, and so it’s perfectly welcoming to her ideal clients.
